Rules
ENTRY CRITERIA
Entrants must meet the following criteria:
(a) Must be aged 18 years old or over;
(b) Must not be employed or engaged by the organiser (Seasiders` Write – SW) or be a live-in partner or immediate relative (i.e. mother, father, son, daughter, brother or sister) of an employee of the organiser or persons professionally associated with the competition.
Proof of eligibility may be required.

Entries open on March 1st 2022.

Closing date for entries: 22nd July 2022.
How to enter & cost of entry:
All entries must be typed and NOT handwritten, using a plain font equivalent to Times New Roman and font size 12. Double spacing and wide margins are required. At the top of each page, you should put the title of the work and number each page at the bottom. Your name or any other identifying features should NOT appear anywhere on your entry.

Your entry should consist of:

The first 5000 words of your novel followed by a one page synopsis of the full story contained in one single document.

We only accept entries as Word documents and NOT as pdf`s.
NB. Entrants agree (i) to comply with these terms and conditions; (ii) that they may be contacted by the organiser; (iii) that their entry may be featured on the Seasiders' Write! website and elsewhere.

Each entrant warrants and represents that he/she owns the rights to the work submitted and that the story (a) is original, meaning that it is the entrant’s own work not having been copied from any pre-existing work (b) is not currently published anywhere in the world; and (c) is written in English, and (d) the completed work exceeds 65,000 words.
Awards Selection Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

The use of language and ability to construct a narrative and a story;

The ability to tell a story (i.e. the author’s voice);

The originality of the story and plot (i.e. creative content); and

The ability to communicate with the reader through words (i.e. writing skills).
All valid entries received by the closing date will be reviewed by Seasiders` Write who will create a shortlist of entries, and then a longlist, which in their opinion best meet the selection criteria. The decision of Seasiders` Write is final. The shortlisted entries will then be reviewed by an independent panel of judges chosen from the world of writing and publishing.
The Awards:

The overall winner will receive a cash sum of £1500 and the publication of their entry by Seasiders` Write as a paperback and eBook. The book launch will be supported by press and media coverage and a package of PR to promote the title.

The first runner-up will receive a cash sum of £500 and the publication of their entry as an eBook listed on a number of digital platforms including Amazon.

The second runner-up will receive a cash sum of £250 and the publication of their entry as an eBook listed on Amazon.
NB. Authors will retain full publishing rights to their works and Seasiders` Write will not receive any payments from royalties.

Failure to comply with the eligibility or entry criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or with these terms and conditions in any way may result in disqualification. For the avoidance of doubt, if we suspect that an entrant is not eligible to participate in this competition, we reserve the right to terminate or suspend their further participation and that entrant forfeits any claim to participate further in the competition and/or to winning any prize.

By entering this competition you agree that the organiser may use and store your personal details in the course of running the competition as set out in these terms and conditions and for related purposes such as promoting the competition, announcing and publicising the winner and advertising the organiser`s products.

Organiser: Seasiders` Write 3b Constellation House, Lockheed Court, Amy Johnson Way Blackpool, FY4 2RN shall be entitled, in its reasonable discretion, to cancel, delay and/or recommence a Competition with immediate effect without any liability to entrants.
